A taste of mindful eating

Mindfulness mediation is conceptualized as a way of training attention to promote self-awareness and self-regulation, decrease emotional reactivity and enhancing insight in cognitive and behavioral aspects of human functioning. While mindful eating refers to an induvial maintaining a nonjudgmental awareness of physical and emotional sensations while eating or in food related environment. Mindful eating is an important element of creating a new relationship with food and body of nourishment. Mindful eating improving mindfulness reduces emotional stress and increase self-compassion and self-esteem.
The 2.5 hours workshop will give a taste of mindful eating by introducing to the participants the theoretical frame of this concept. Participates will also have the opportunity to practice some mindful eating techniques and taste in a unique way one of their favorite foods.
Mindful eating is not another rule regarding healthy eating but is a tool which can lead to the inner resources of wisdom, self-love and self-acceptance.

His primary goals as a health and wellness professional is to inspire and motivate people to make sustainable changes in their eating behaviors to improve their holistic wellbeing. He has twenty years of working experience with specialization in obesity and disordered eating behaviors. During the last 4 years he has been working and doing research more in the field on mindfulness and its application in eating behaviors.
He is the founder of the program « project EATT*» (2016-2017), a scientific and evidence-based intervention in the field on mindful eating, which for first time conducted in Greek population with overweight or obesity. “project EATT” has been nominated in the 7th Panhellenic Congress of Health Promotion and Health Education in Athens (2017) as one of the best community-based interventions. “Project EATT*” was also presented in the International Conference on Mindfulness in Amsterdam (2018).
In the past he had collaborated with the National School of Public Health, Department of Nutrition & Biochemistry in the major Greek Cohort Study “EPIC” and with University Hospitals Evangelismos and Sotiria, as a nutritionist, of an intervention (physical activity based) conducted to patients with COPD and Cystic Fibrosis.
As a nutritionist and bodyART instructor he has collaborated with many sports and wellness clubs. As a health promotion counselor, nutritionist, and health/wellness coach, he has collaborated with Greek-based international companies by designing and planning wellness and similar activities, supporting for each one of the companies wellness culture and the concept of workplace wellness.
He has an active collaboration with The Centre for Health Services Research, of Athens Medical School and with Ηuman Resources Expertise (HRE). He is also a member of Hellenic Union of Dieticians and Nutritionists, Wellcoaches ® (International group), and The Center for Mindful Eating (International group).
